A commercial refrigeration system removes heat from the cabinet or coldroom through the evaporator and rejects it at the condenser. The controller uses temperature sensors to decide when cooling and defrost are required, while fans move air across the heat exchangers. A fault that looks like “not cooling” can therefore start in the electrical controls, airflow, defrost system, compressor circuit, refrigerant circuit or simply at the door and gasket.

Do not open a refrigerant circuit, add refrigerant or attempt leak repair unless appropriately qualified. Isolate equipment if electrical parts are wet, wiring is damaged, protective devices repeatedly trip or the cabinet cannot hold food at a safe temperature.
